 Description

This material was recorded in Radio Wrocław Studios in 1997, during one of Art Farmers polish tours. There is no cuts or editing on any step of production. Pure live recording.

First time released on CD in 1998 by the prestigious label EmArcy. On October 26.2024

it premiered in a renewed sound form on vinyl. And in a special edition: on two 180 g, 45 rpm discs, available in a transparent ("Crystal Clear") version as well as a classic black version.

The album was recorded analogue, on a multi-track tape recorder, but the master was created on DAT tape (16 bits, 44.1 kHz).

Then, after years. remastered by Piotr Łukaszewski at Custom34 studio in Gdansk, Poland, using Studer A80 and A827 tape machines. Direct Metal Masters (DMM) for the LPs were cut at Pauler Acoustics in Northeim, Germany by Günter Pauler

Born on 21 August 1928 and dying on 4 October 1999, ART FARMER was an American jazz trumpeter and flugelhorn player. He also played the flumpet, a combination of trumpet and flugelhorn specially designed for him. His early fascinations, while living in Los Angeles, were bebop and the big bands of the swing era.

In the following years, he recorded for Blue Note Records, was part of Horace Silver's band, and toured Europe between 1965 and 1966.

The recording from Wrocław is one of the last he made.

The lineup assembled for this recording includes Art Farmer, Piotr Baron is on tenor saxophone, Kuba Stankiewicz plays piano, Harvie S is on double bass, and Adam Czerwiński sits behind the drum kit. The album is a hard bop blowing session that mixes ballads and blues, but as usual, Art Farmer generously gives everyone on board plenty of room to stretch out for extensive solos.

“This is an excellent album. Musically - a revelation. Sonically - stunning. The album receives our ˻ BIG RED BUTTON  award, intended for reference recordings”.
